At City Tree Christian School, we believe every child’s well-being is the foundation
for lifelong learning and success. While academics are important, a child’s mental and emotional health matters just as much. How children feel affects how they think, learn, and connect with others. When they feel supported and cared for, they’re more confident, focused, and ready to grow. But when they feel anxious, sad, or stressed, it can be harder for them to concentrate and enjoy school.
According to the World Health Organization, one in seven adolescents experiences a mental health condition. That’s why early support and awareness are so important—and why City Tree is taking active steps to nurture emotional wellness on campus.
We’ve partnered with Safe Harbor, an organization that teaches students helpful tools for understanding and managing their emotions. Each age group is participating in a program designed just for them:
Pre-K through 1st Grade: Turtle Time — four fun lessons that teach students about “big” feelings and healthy ways to cope.
2nd through 4th Grade: Anger Management — three lessons that help students understand and manage feelings of anger in positive ways.
5th Grade through Middle School: Pause Power — lessons focused on helping students recognize their emotions and learn how to pause, reflect, and respond in healthy ways.

These programs help us build a positive school culture where kindness, inclusion, and belonging are part of everyday life.
Parents play a big part in supporting their child’s mental health, too. We encourage you to talk openly with your child about their feelings and challenges, and to watch for changes in behavior—like becoming more withdrawn, irritable, or having trouble sleeping. If you ever have questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or school administrators.
When schools and families work together to support mental health, children thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally. By helping our kids care for their hearts and minds today, we’re giving them the tools they need for a lifetime of confidence,
resilience, and joy in learning.
At City Tree Christian School, we’re committed to nurturing not just bright minds—but also healthy, happy hearts.
